Vine's Complete Expository Dictionary
Often, the first step a believer makes into advanced Bible study is wanting to research the original meaning of the Greek and Hebrew meanings of various words. It can be difficult to carry over the complete meaning of a Greek or Hebrew word into the English language.
This is where Vie’s Complete Expository Dictionary becomes useful. It will provide you with a more complete meaning of the word than Strong’s Concordance. Now you can have confidence in your understanding of a particular word when studying.
Here is what the publisher has to say:
This classic word study resource allows you to study the meaning of biblical words in the original languages without spending years learning Greek or Hebrew.
A great resource for students, seasoned pastors, and anyone who enjoys biblical word studies–even if they have little to no formal training in Hebrew or Greek. Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary:
- Contains over 6,000 key biblical words, describing word frequency, usage, and meaning as fully as possible.
- Serves as a dictionary, commentary, and comprehensive topical concordance all in one volume.

- Contains an introduction describing the history of the languages in which the Bible was written and other orientating data on how the modern Bible came about.
This classic reference tool has helped thousands dig deeper into the meaning of the biblical text and will enlighten Bible students to the riches of God’s truth in Scripture, opening up God’s word as it has never been opened before.

Nave's Topical Bible
Have you ever wanted to know about a topic in the Bible, but didn’t know where to start finding the verses? Nave’s Topical Bible solves that problem. This resource covers over 20,000 topics. I use this regularly to find what the Bible says about a topic. It is a “must have” resource for my daily Bible Study.
Here is what the publisher says:
Nave’s Topical Bible, the best known of all topical bibles, has been a valuable Bible-study reference and a best-seller for more than 75 years. It is a comprehensive digest of over 20,000 topics and subtopics with more than 100,000 associated Scripture references. The most significant references for each topic actually include the full text of the verse cited—saving the need to separately look up each verse.
Because Nave’s groups verses by “idea” (or “topic”), it offers a better overview of relevant Scriptures than a concordance, which only lists or indexes verses according to specific words. This edition also includes the helpful Scripture index (left out of some other editions), which makes it possible for the reader studying a particular biblical text to locate every topic and grouping of Scripture in Nave’s whenever a particular verse is included. That way, it is possible for the reader to study either all the verses related to a particular topic orall the topics related to a particular verse—it works both ways.
For the pastor or teacher interested in saving hours of time but not willing to give their second best, and for anyone wanting to be challenged by what God has to say about a given subject, Nave’s Topical Bible is the passport that will allow immediate and successful entry to the many points of interest.
Systematic Theology: An Introduction to Biblical Doctrine, Second Edition
This is my number one resource for learning theology. It teaches me in simple language what terms such as justification, sanctification, and redemption truly mean. It covers the doctrines in the Bible in ways that anyone can understand. Wayne Grudem is excellent in presenting differing views so you can fully understand.
Here is what the publishers says:
If you are someone who thinks theology is hard to understand or boring, then this second edition of Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem will likely change your mind. Each chapter of this most popular systematic text of the last 25 years has been thoroughly revised, updated, and expanded, while retaining its lucid explanations, practical applications, and emphasis on the scriptural basis of doctrine. It also includes recent controversies on topics like Trinitarian doctrine, the role of women, seeker-sensitive churches, free grace, creation and evolution, perspectives on Paul, and more.
Books That Help Me Believe the Impossible
I have read these books once a year for over fifty years. They encourage me and build my faith to believe God for the impossible
The Cross and the Switchblade
With me being a product of the Jesus People Movement, David Wilkerson had a tremendous influence on my spiritual development. This is his story of how a naive country preacher was able, through the grace of God, to lead some of the toughest gang members of New York into the Kingdom of God. This book gives me fresh inspiration every time I read it.
Here is what the publisher says:
They were the toughest, most hopeless kids that New York City had to offer—gang members, drug addicts, runaways, and prostitutes. Until a young rural pastor from Pennsylvania arrived on their turf and started preaching the message of God’s love and forgiveness on the street corners. Introduce a new generation to this timeless bestseller!
God's Smuggler
Here is another book I have read yearly for over fifty years. This book tells the true story of Brother Andrew’s adventure behind the Iron Curtain smuggling Bibles and encouraging Christians. He risked his life every time he went into these countries to smuggle Bibles to persecuted Christians.
Here is what the publisher says:
As a boy he dreamed of becoming a spy behind enemy lines—as a man he went undercover for God! Expanded to include a new interview with Brother Andrew, this real-life thriller tells the story of a Dutch factory worker who risked his life to smuggle Bibles behind the Iron Curtain—and found God’s miraculous provision at every step.
Books That Teach Healing
These are the best books on the market about God’s promise to heal His people. I read them regularly and have worn out more than one copy of these books.
Healed of Cancer by Dodie Osteen
Whenever I speak to someone that is dealing with a serious illness, especially if the illness is cancer, this is the book I put in their hands. Dodie Osteen is the mother of Joel Osteen and her story is incredible. It not only tells you how she believed God for healing from cancer, it also teaches you how to believe for your healing.
Here is what the publisher says:
God has given Dodie Osteen a mighty ministry of love and compassion. In every service, people are blessed, lifted and moved and she lovingly and courageously prays for the sick, casts out demons, and ministers with tears of compassion to hurting people. Many testify of healing and deliverance as a result of her anointed ministry.
About The Author
Dodie Osteen and her family pastor the congregation of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, which was founded by her husband, the late Pastor John Osteen. Dodie ministered alongside her husband throughout their 44-year marriage.

Christ the Healer, Revised and Expanded Edition
Here is my other favorite book about God’s promise of healing. F.F. Bosworth does an excellent job of dealing with this controversial subject within the Body of Christ. I highly recommend this resource to complete your library on the subject of healing.
Here is what the publisher says:
F. F. Bosworth’s earnest prayer was that many thousands would learn to apply the promises of God’s Word to their lives through his book, Christ the Healer. Bosworth offers an astonishing discussion of healing, based on the premise that Jesus redeemed us from our diseases when he atoned for our sins. This classic on healing, first released in 1924, has sold more than 500,000 copies and continues to enrich and inspire new readers every day.
This revised and expanded edition includes a brand-new foreword and epilogue on the remarkable life and healing of the author himself, written by his son.

Prayer is a vital daily practice for every Christian. These books will teach you how to exercise more faith while praying. Enrich your prayer life with these resources.
The Complete Works of E. M. Bounds On Prayer
There is no one that teaches prayer like E.M. Bounds. This is an indispensable resource about prayer.
This is what the publisher says:
Collected here in this 8-in-1 omnibus edition are all of E. M. Bounds’ powerful books. No one else wrote with such power and authority on prayer.
These classic books continue to inspire and instruct us on all aspects of prayer and its uses in everyday Christian life. “Prayer has to do with the entire man. Prayer takes in man in his whole being, mind, soul and body. It takes the whole man to pray, and prayer affects the entire man in its gracious results.
As the whole nature of man enters into prayer, so also all that belongs to man is the beneficiary of prayer. All of man receives benefits in prayer. The whole man must be given to God in praying. The largest results in praying come to him who gives himself, all of himself, all that belongs to himself, to God.
This is the secret of full consecration, and this is a condition of successful praying, and the sort of praying which brings the largest fruits.” -E. M. Bounds

Finding time for prayer can be difficult in our world full of distractions. Paul Miller teaches us how to include God in prayer throughout the day. This is an essential book on prayer for every library.
What the publisher says:

If prayerlessness marks your life more often than not, A Praying Life is for you. Miller offers practical, down-to-earth advice on how to talk to God in the midst of your daily routines. Learn to speak from a childlike faith, live your Father’s story, understand unanswered petitions, and more. Includes new chapters on prayers of lament and further guidance on using prayer cards.
Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God
Few Christians are taught how to pray effectively. Tim Keller teaches the principles of prayer and also how to pray in specific situations. No library should be without this resource on prayer.
What the publisher says:
Christians are taught that prayer is the main way to experience God. But aside from learning prayers by rote, few receive guidance in how to make the most of this essential Christian act. In Prayer, renowned pastor Timothy Keller shows us how to make prayer genuinely meaningful.
With his trademark insight and energy, Keller offers brilliant and inspirational biblical guidance, as well as prayers for specific situations, such as dealing with grief, love, and forgiveness. Using great model prayers from the Bible and great Christian teachers throughout history, he discusses ways to make prayers more personal and powerful, and how to establish a practice of prayer that works for each reader.
