“In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s house will be established at the top of the mountains and will be raised above the hills. All nations will stream to it, and many peoples will come and say, “Come, let’s go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us about his ways so that we may walk in his paths.” For instruction will go out of Zion and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 2:2-3 CSB)
This passage in Isaiah carries a prophetic word for Mountaintop Worship Center. But, before we get into the prophetic message, let’s look at the importance of the mountaintop experience.
The mountaintop experience is something many Christians seek after. When it happens, they become excited and zealous for God. It is on the “mountaintop” we receive revelation from God, and it is where we often experience the tangible, felt presence of God. This often propels us into a greater service for God.
The Valley Experience
Yet, right after this, Christians often go back into the “valley” where they seem to dwell most of the time. This is so prevalent that the “mountaintop experience” has become a Christian cliché of excitement and zeal. Yet the valley has become a symbol of rough times and depression.
I don’t believe this should be true. My belief is the valley is as good as the mountaintop and just as important to our spiritual growth. Valleys contain lakes and streams and are where rich grasses and varied types of trees grow.
Therefore, ranchers take their cattle and sheep to the valley for the rich food. It also known valleys are quiet places of rest and peace. There is an actual valley connected to rough times and depression in Psalm 23, known as the “shadow of death,” that is outside of Jericho in Israel. I doubt any of us will go there. It is time to drop the negative connotation attached to valleys and embrace their true purpose.
The Mountaintop Experience
Mountains are a symbol of steadfastness. They are solid and unmovable. In the Bible, mountains are often the places where God encounters His people, changes their lives, and sends them back down to the world with a prophetic message. Moses is a prime example of this. (see Exodus 19)
We need the mountaintop experiences to experience the glory of God and receive revelation. But God never intended for us to live there. We go down to the valley to meditate on our recent revelation, allowing us to learn from our mountaintop experiences. This meditation allows us to digest the revelation so we can be more effective ambassadors for Christ.
Mountaintop Worship Center
Here at Mountaintop Worship Center, we spend every Sunday and Wednesday on the mountaintop. At those times, we receive revelation and teaching from God. Afterwards, we go back into the valleys where we live our lives. There we can change the world and share God’s love and faithfulness that is as stolid as the mountains.
We come down from the mountaintop because very few people are there. The people live in the valleys. Our job is to share God’s reconciliation with them and bring them to the mountaintop for their own personal experience with God.
God’s Prophetic Word for Mountaintop Worship Center
Now for the Lord’s prophetic word: This is what the Lord is saying to the people of Mountaintop Worship Center. “I have established you on the mountaintop. You are not THE mountain of the Lord, but you are A mountain of the Lord. Do what I have called you to do, and people will say, ‘Let us go to Mountaintop Worship Center. There we will walk in His paths and will be taught His ways.’ For instruction and revelation will come out from Mountaintop Worship Center. I have placed you on the mountaintop for my glory in the last days.”
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I thank you for every mountaintop experience I have had and look forward to more of them. As I rest in the valley and meditate on my mountaintop experiences, please have Your Holy Spirit reveal to me what I need to know.
Here in the valley, I will rest and feed on the goodness of Your Word. I commit myself to daily sharing with others good things You have done for me. Lead me to those where the harvest is ready, for I am Your willing laborer.
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
