The Lord your God is among you, a warrior who saves. (Zephaniah 3:17 CSB)
The Bible tells us God is love, and this is what we speak of all the time. We teach and preach about His great love for us and how we are to emulate His love.
Yet, the Bible also speaks of God being a warrior and of how He fights for us. Is this contrary to God is love? How can He be both?
God is a father that loves His children. This love compels Him to protect His children. In protecting His children, there are times God must be a warrior.
God is a warrior because He is love. He will do whatever it takes to protect His children. How does this fit in with Jesus and His overwhelming message of love?
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature… (Hebrews 1:3 CSB)
Yes, Jesus tells His followers to walk in love. Even as far as turning the other cheek when abused by enemies. As Christians, we are not to seek revenge or to hate our enemies.
We can do this because Jesus is a warrior. He defeated our enemy in the depths of hell. Because Jesus is the conqueror, we are more than conquerors.
Therefore, as more than conquerors, we can walk in love. Jesus is our warrior that saves. He purchased our salvation by defeating our enemy.
And He rises as our warrior any time we need Him to. As we fight the good fight of faith, Jesus is fighting our spiritual battles for us. Jesus fights the battles, and we reap the rewards.
I urge you to not neglect to acknowledge God as a warrior that will fight for you. Call upon Him whenever you need to. Allow God to send His heavenly hosts, the angels, to not only work on your behalf but also to fight for you.
God will respond to your time of need. He is a loving Father that desires to protect His children against our enemy, the devil, and his evil hordes.
Prayer
Father, I thank you for your great love for me and my family. I thank you for being able to depend on you to fight for us whenever the need arises. We stand in faith in what your Word says. As we stand in faith, speaking your Word, we know your angels will obey your Word and make it come to pass. Thank you again for your love and for making me more than a conqueror. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
